Active Script Lists: questions to ask your pharmacist
An Active Script List is an optional way to manage electronic and barcoded paper prescriptions. Ask your pharmacist about registration, access and consent before deciding whether it suits you.
Work out what you need help with
Perhaps you regularly lose messages, manage several prescriptions or help someone else organise their pharmacy visits. Explain that practical problem so the pharmacist can discuss suitable options rather than assuming every person needs the same system.
Keep access decisions clear
Ask who can access the list, how you give permission and how to change that permission. If someone helps manage your medicines, discuss their role too. A preference saved in a shopping account is not the same thing as consent to access a prescription list.
Your checklist
- Ask how registration works.
- Clarify access and withdrawal of consent.
- Ask what happens if you change pharmacies.
A common question
Does My Pharmacia automatically create an Active Script List?
Do not assume it does. Confirm ASL registration directly with your pharmacy.
